  • What is natural selection? Natural selection is one of the basic mechanisms of evolution, along with mutation, migration, and genetic drift.
  • There are four parts to natural selection. 1. Overproduction 2. Genetic Variation 3. Struggle to survive 4. Differential Reproduction These four parts are also known as adaptations.
  • Not all animals have all 4 parts of natural selection but some animals need at least one part to prevent them from becoming extinct.
  • For example a turtle need overproduction because when it lays its eggs on the beach a lot of the baby turtles will get killed on the way to the water by preditors.
