Storyboard Text

  • Background
  • ...I was appointed to the Virginia Delegation of the second constitutional congress...
  • View of Nature of Human Beings
  • ...A man capable of being a smart human being, but doesn't think sometimes...
  • Best Type of Goverment
  • ...I believe in a weaker central government...
  • I was appointed to the Virginia delegation of the second Continental Congress, main author of the Declaration of Independence, served as a U.S Minister to France, served as Vice President, but then I became President. I had lots of abilities and a positive view on people because I was surrounded by popular and smart humans.
  • Constitution
  • ...I have concerns about the fact that there is not Bill of Rights...
  • A man capable of being a smart human being that doesn't think sometimes is how I describe a "common man". Some of the dangers that I think about in a small group of central government, is that none of the "people" would have an opinion of what should happen to the government. I am not sure, but I might want government that is distributed power among the states.
  • Political Party
  • ...We ended up making the Republican Party...
  • I believe in a weaker central government. I believe that government power should NOT be concentrated in one central or federal government. I know the Articles of Confederation have serious problems, but I do not want to get rid of the concept entirely. I had problems coming to terms with the number of 4 year terms a president could serve, and how we had no Bill of Rights.
  • Ideal Economy
  • ...I thought that "common man" should be at the center of the U.S. Economy...
  • I had concerns about the fact that there was no limit to the amount of 4 year terms a guy could serve as President, if a person was reelected over and over again he could end up ruling like a King. I also had the concern that there was no Bill of Rights. I am an anti-federalist and therefore support a loose government.
  • We ended up making the Republican Party, with me as leader. The view was that the strong states' rights limited powers for the federal government and a "strict" interpretation of the constitution.
  • I thought that the "common man" should be at the center of the U.S. Economy. It was similar, because I thought independent farmers would become wealthy. Yet, if the states were independent, they would also become wealthy.
