  • Definition: To create difficulties for someone or something. Context: "This stream followed a distinct west-to-east path across the ocean and its movement could help or hinder sailing ships." pg.26 This person has a gate which is the obstacle that is stopping her from getting the apples. This results in a delay of time for her to get the thing she needs.
  • Intact
  • Definition: To use up the supply or resource of something, diminish in number or quantity. Context: "These changes, which can include depleted fish populations and increased rainfull." pg.31 We waste so much paper and it is affecting the forests. Since nobody has replaced the trees there is a lot of pollution shown due to the depletion of trees.
  • Deployed
  • Definition: The process of becoming weak, to break up into pieces. Context: "We can see the movement of trash by the great ocean currents and we can see the disintegration of the trash over time." pg.22 The shirt that was never washed was disintegrated and was dirty and not as durable before.
  • Voyage
  • Definiton: not damaged or impaired in anyway; complete. Context: "The Hansa Carrier managed to pass through the storm intact." pg. 39 In the picture the headless horsemen has no actual head intact with him. He uses a pumpkin as his head and tries to keep it intact.
  • Definition: to move, to bring into action. Context: "You have deployed the first wave of drifters designed to help us understand." pg.49 She explained to the mover that she wanted her bed deployed to the other side of the room.
  • Definition: a long travel or journey usually in sea. Context: "Charlie and his crew were able to tag ghost nets that they couldn't collect during voyage." pg.48 After the pilgrims long voyage they ended up at Plymouth Rock.
