Juliet goes to the Friar for advice on what to do, but she runs into Paris who speaks to her lovingly, yet arrogantly. She says that she has not married him yet. Friar Lawrence gets Paris to leave for Juliet's "confession".
The Friar and Juliet hatch a plan were she will drink from a vial that, will make it seem like she is dead, so the entire issue can blow over and she can get out of marrying Paris.
Juliet goes home, and surprises her parents by saying she will marry Paris. Her father is so happy that he moves the date of the wedding up to Wednesday.
Juliet alone in her chamber, begins to doubt the Friar, but then she sees a vision of Tybalt looking for Romeo. She begs him to stop looking for Romeo.
Juliet then toasts to Romeo, and drinks the vial. She goes against what most women would do at the time and takes actions into her own hands.
The nurse is sent to wake Juliet only to find her "dead". Wailing the nurse, gets the attention of Juliet's Parents, who are in shock.
