  • OBESITY
  • What is obesity?
  • It is the state of being grossly fat or overweight
  • What are the effects of obesity?
  • High blood pressure- Additional fat tissue in the body needs oxygen and nutrients in order to live, which requires the blood vessels to circulate more blood to the fat tissue. This increases the workload of the heart because it must pump more blood through additional blood vessels

  • Cancer- In women, being overweight contributes to an increased risk for a variety of cancers including breast cancer, colon, gallbladder, and uterus. Men who are overweight have a higher risk of colon cancer and prostate cancers.

  • Unhealthy Eating Habits: The first consequence of obesity is unhealthy eating habits. This is a bad habit and consists in eating junk food, consume more calories than normal range. This junk food has high level of sugar, cholesterol and people do not drinking enough water.
  • The three main causes of obesity in Malaysia are: -Unhealthy Eating Habits -Lack of Exercise -Genetic Inheritance

  • Genetic Inheritance: Genes affect a wide range of chemical functions in the body and affect our weight in many ways. For example, metabolism, hormones, and body fat disposition are all affected by genetic inheritance.
  • Lack of Exercise: Other reason why obesity exists is the lack of physical activity. This lack of exercise is because people have a busy life style. For example, they work all of time and not have a break to exercise.
