  • Teacher Read-Aloud
  • Students work collaboratively
  • Students will work together in groups (ideally groups of four: Group 1 consists of kid A, kid B, kid C, kid D), but also as partners (kid A and kid B are partners and kid C and kid D are partners), and cooperatively write a story titled Fortunately and Unfortunately.
  • Students work collaboratively
  • Story is based off the mentor book "Fortunately" by Remy Charlip.
  • Final Presentation
  • The first set of partners will start the book in Google Docs. The second set of partners will reflect on what the first set wrote and collaboratively respond with a fortunate or an unfortunate event. The writing will continue on until each group has written five events.
  • Collaborative Writing Project Rubrics
  • While one set of partners is working on their event, the other set of partners are working on their illustrations in Storyboard or Storyjumper.
  • Days 1-5 Students collaborate, create the book, and publish their writing. Day 6: Each group of students will present their story to the class.
  • Group Final Story Project: Follow Assignment Directions, Illustrations Support Writing, Overall Content and Organization, Appropriate Use of Technology, Conventions
  • Rubric Scoring 4 points - Exemplary 3 points - Proficient 2 points - Needs Improvement 1 point - Unsatisfactory
  • Cooperative Learning Rubric: Contribution to Group Goals, Consideration of Others, Contribution of Knowledge, Working and Sharing with Others
