Witch Lady! Witch Lady!
That was so childish but I feel like a woman now
Lizabeth is a child experiencing growing up while living in the great depression. She is very unhappy with her life.
Mrs Lottie is a poor old woman who was also suffering from the great depression, like many others. Lizabeth and friends don't like Mrs Lottie and call her mean names. Lizabeth is still not mature enough to understand how to care for the less fortunate and cant understand to be happy for other people.
Lizabeth rips up Mrs Lottie's Marigolds and she thinks that this is a transition from childhood to adulthood. This events makes Lizabeth realize years later that the Marigolds were Mrs Lottie's lightness in her dark times and she realizes now how much those Marigolds meant to Mrs Lottie.
