Susie's death led Mr. Salmon to feel empty and sickened with sadness.
"My father stood in the kitchen and a sickening shiver overtook him" (Sebold20).
Ms. Salmon knew the value and meaning to each of the charms Susie had kept on her bracelet. Mr. Harvey had once h the Pennsylvania keystone charm in his pocket.
My mother had been the one who knew the meaning of each charm on my bracelet- where we had gotten it and why I liked it" (Sebold21).
