the judgment:every day Hester has to stand on the scaffold for 3 hours
the object of sin:Hester tries to hide her daughter "pearl" as she is the reminder of her visual 'A' which stands for adultry
the return of the repressed:both her husband and her lover appeared at her shaming
pride and prejudice:they hate her but they need her. Hester is the best stewer (make clothes, threads,needles) in their town so in a sense she has value
