  • When the twins were born
  • What should we name the twins?
  • We'll name them Romulus and Remus
  • Their father left them drift down the Tiber river
  • I wonder what these kids were doing here
  • *Cricket noise*
  • Taken and raised by a she-wolf
  • Whah! Whah!
  • The twins were born to a princess, Rhea Silivia , and to Mars, the roman god of war
  • Remus was captured and taken to the king.
  • Their king of where they lived was scared that someday Romulus and Remus would overthrow him and take his throne
  • the place where Rome is located today
  • I want to live on top of Palatine Hill
  • Well, I want to live on top of Aventine Hill
  • The wolf protected them from other wild animals, while a friendly woodpecker helped them find food. As some shepherds passed them one shepherd took the boys home and raised them as his own.
  • How Remus died and what happened after
  • Romulus gathered some shepherds to rescue his brother. They ended up killing the king. When the city learned who the boys were, they offered to crown them as joint kings. They turned down the crowns because they wanted to found their own city
  • What am I here for?
  • Am I in trouble?
  • They both liked the area, but they each wanted to place the city on a different hill. Romulus wanted the city to be on top of Palatine Hill while Remus wanted to be on top of Aventine Hill.
  • Romulus started building a wall around Palatine Hill. Remus jumped over the wall to show how easy it was to cross. Romulus became angry and killed Remus. He officially founded the city on April 21, 753 BC, making himself king, and naming it Rome after himself
