  • Scrooge hitting the boy with the ruler indirectly shows that he doesn't enjoy the happiness and Christmas spirit of others.

  • Scrooge is taken to the Cratchit household by the ghost of Christmas present and finally realizes that money isn't the only thing to be thankful for because the Cratchit family represents how you don't need money to be happy and thankful for what you have.
  • Internal Conflict
  • You must change your ways in order to save yourself from an awful destiny.
  • The Consequences of Greed Scrooge's greed leads him to believe that only money can bring happiness and those who are poor must have nothing to be thankful for and should be punished.

  • The Ghost of Christmas past brings Scrooge to see his old school he went to as a child to see himself sitting alone at the school front. Scrooge being lonely while all the other children at the school house are talking about Christmas and their merry spirits show that he has always been lonely on Christmas, contributing to his future hatred of the holiday.

  • Scrooge is visited by Marley's ghost and has to face the difficult decision of whether or not he should change his ways to save himself from his afterlife.
