King Edward 1066
King Edward was king of England. He had no children. Fifteen years ago, he had said that William, Duke of Normandy, should be the next king. He was very old and on his death bed.
I will kill him!
King Edward died. It was January 1066
The day after King Edward died, Harold said that he was king.
This made William very angry with Harold.
On 22nd September, Harold of Wessex had to march to fight Harald Hardraada who had sailed over with an army.
On 27th September 1066, William sailed from Normandy to England with a huge army.
