Storyboard Text

  •
  • "Suddenly then The God-cursed brute was creating havoc: Greedy and grim, he grabbed thirty men from their resting places and rushed to his lair, flushed up and inflamed from the raid, blundering back with the butchered corpses." (120-125)
  • The quote represents the call to adventure in stage one (The Departure) because without Grendel killing men in Heorot, Beowulf would not have the need to come. The quote shows how much the Danes needed a hero to save them.
  • Have you heard about the monster who is killing all the Danes? They need someone to help them!
  • "So Grendel waged his lonely war, inflicting constant cruelties on the people, atrocious hurt. He took over Heorot, haunted the glittering hall after dark, but the throne itself, the treasure-seat, he was kept from approaching; he was the Lord’s outcast." (164-169)
  • The quote shows how Grendel was the threshold guardian. He guarded the hall in Heorot during the night and killed the Danes.
  • "You can't come through."
  • "Beowulf is my name. If your lord and master, the most renowned Son of Halfdane, will hear me out and graciously allow me to greet him in person,I am ready and willing to report my errand." (342-347)
  • The quote shows when Beowulf crosses the threshold (Part 4 of the Departure) from Geatland to the land of the Danes. It's unfamiliar territory for Beowulf, but he comes to help the Danes fight Grendel.
  • Land of the Danes
  • Geatland
