Jonas and his sisters woke up in their shack of a home and made the decision to immigrate to America. They thought life would be better for their small family there. So they packed what little they had and went to the dock, which was 15 miles from their home.
The ride to Ellis Island was crowded and unsatisfactory. Many white immigrants murmured rude remarks about Jonas and his wonderful sisters, and they had no choice but to deal with critisism
Finally, after days of sailing the boat docked in Ellis island, and their new life could begin
Soon after they arrived in New York, Jonas found a job at a factory, working with many white immigrants, and working terrible hours with criticism from all those who thought him unimportant.
Jonas and his sisters eventually decided to go home to Africa, unable to handle the terrible conditions they were living in during their time in New York.
