Aretha Franklin was born on March 25, 1942, in Memphis, TN. Her musical talent was noticed at an early age, and she was later called a child prodigy. SInce she was traveling all over the world she was exposed to things at an early age and she became a mother at the age of fourteen for the first time. Just two years later she had her second child at the age of sixteen. After having her children she continued performing.
Aretha franklin has had many songs in the top ten and number one on the billboard charts including I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me), Respect, at the number one spot and Chain Of Fools, at the number two spot. She has also won the National Board of Review Awards Best Actress in 1982 and National Board of Review Awards Best Ensemble Cast in 2008.
After Aretha Franklin song “Respect” came out in 1967 she became a leader of the civil rights movement. People had believed that the song was meant for the respect of colored Americans, even though she had said her self that the song was meant for the respect for all people no matter race, gender, or age.
