  • Abraham
  • Moses
  • Naomi
  • Abraham is the founding father of Convenant. Convenant is the special relationship between the Jewish people and god. Abraham is important to the beginnings of Judaism because he introducd the Jewish people to God.
  • Ruth
  • Moses was a man adopted in Egypt and lived there for some of is life. During the time of his childhood, the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. When he was older, Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt to the "promised land" on a migration called the Exodus.
  • David
  • Naomi was the mother-in-law of Ruth and the wife of Elimelech. Naomi left with her family to avoid starvation in Bethlem to a new country called Moab. Naomi was faced with a lot of bad luck in Moab and felt that her family was disgracing God. After her husband and 2 children all suffered tragic deaths she returned to Bethlem with one of her daughter-in-laws, Ruth. They lived in poverty until Ruth found a rich husband to marry.
  • Yohanan ben Zaccai
  • Ruth first lived in Moab until her husband died and she went to Bethlem with her mother-in-law, Naomi. She lived in poverty and had many misfortunes until God rewarded her for worshipping him. Ruth is an example in history that following God will be rewarding and not worshipping him will bring bad luck.
  • David is most known for his skills at being a warrior and writing psalms. He also conquered many nearby lands during his time of reign. David wrote the Book of Psalms that benefited the spread of the religion of Judaism. David also set plans to build a Holy Temple.
  • Yohanan ben Zaccai was a tannaim, an important Jewish sage during the time of the second temple, and a contributor to the core text of the Rabbinical Judaism. Yohanan helped the spread of Judaism beliefs.
