  • Conformity is an important component in a teenager's life and is necessary for survival.
  • In an article, it says "The members of these groups work together to help each other... This is also clear for most animals." Humans use conformity to work together and create a successful life, just like animals.
  • Why is conformity our default mode and where did we learn to do it?
  • CONFOMITY ENLGISH PROJECT
  • “This early attentiveness to informational cues is called ‘social referencing.'”
  • The quote above is from an article titled 'Social Basis of Human Behavior' by Richard F. Taflinger. It is using a metaphor to explain the similarities between humans and animals. This is showing that humans need to work together for survival, just like animals. The metaphor makes the point more clear and the reader is able to understand it better.
  • For example, “An infant who falls down looks up to the parents to gauge whether to cry.” The infant used informational cues to conform to societal standards.
  • Conformity will always take place, so many people wonder if it is natural or a learned behavior.
  • So, we can gather that conformity is very important in a teenager's life.
  • The quote from the article is an example of logos. The author was trying to show the reader that they were knowledgeable about this topic. In the quote, there is a definition which helps the reader know what social referencing is. The quote is showing that conformity is a natural behavior and is an automatic reaction to any situation. Humans pay attention to surroundings at an early age and base their reactions off of what they see.
  • The quote from the article gives an example of the informational cues that humans use to conform. When people look around, they get a sense of their surroundings and can therefore conform to what everyone else is doing. If someone is being loud and disruptive, they can use informational and normative cues to change their behavior and conform to the rest of society. This can be used in a helpful way.
  • Conforming is crucial in a teen's life. It will help humans work together to accomplish a task. Conformity is also a natural reaction to any situation, so most humans will follow the rest of society. Lastly, conformity will allow humans to get a sense of their surroundings and act similar to everyone else. If everyone works together and pays attention to their surroundings, then there will be many benefits of conformity.
