- Hannah Snowshoe Hare was at the seaside visiting Heidi Hummy. “I don’t want to live in the lighthouse anymore,” said Heidi. “I want to live in the city, where anyone can be anything." “What do you want to be?” asked Hannah.
- “I want to be a tour guide at the art gallery and show everyone all the beautiful artwork,” said Heidi.
- “Or maybe I’ll be a travel guide and give tours of faraway places.”
- “If I become a gardener, I could take care of all the plants in the park.”
- “I could be a receptionist at the hospital and look after all my friends and neighbors.”

- “Wow!” Hannah exclaimed, impressed. But, remember: it doesn’t matter what you are, because I’ll always love you for who you are.”
