Storyboard Text

  • Rainey is falling to the ground in precipitation (this is also caused by gravity) , she is now runoff. Precipitation is condensed water falling to the ground as rain, snow, sleet, or hail. Runoff is water that neither soaks into the ground nor evaporates, but flows into water.
  • Hello! My name is Rainey. Want to follow along with me as i go through the water cycle?
  • From There, Rainey flows into a body of water like a river. All of Rainey's other friends and cousins turn into ground water. Ground Water is water that soaks into the ground and collects in the pore spaces between particles of rock and soil.
  • Now i am Surface Runoff flowing into this river. All of my friends are now ground water and have sinked into the pore spaces in the earth!
  • Now Rainey is flowing through a river. Soon, she will evaporate back into the atmosphere where she came from. All of her friends have now soaked into the ground and will also evaporate and go to plants that need water.
  • Hey it's Rainey! I am now flowing through a river and will evaporate soon!
  • Rainey's friends are now exiting from tiny holes in the leaves of the tree. This is called Transpiration. Transpiration is the process where water moves up through a plant, eventually existing through tiny holes in leaves.
  • Rainey is now evaporating from the river. Evaporation is when heat from the sun causes water to change into a gas called water vapor. Energy is absorbed by the water, and is a cooling process.
  • Hey guys! I am now evaporating back into the atmosphere with all of my friends!
  • Rainey and all of her friends are now back in the atmosphere where they started. The water cycle repeats itself and never stops.
  • I am now back in the atmosphere with all of my friends. Now, we will repeat this cycle over and over again!
