More complex and evolved society
Simple non-evolved society
In a lecture by Whittington-Walsh (2017) race is classified as physcial and genetic differences that disingish different groups of people from other groups of people. It is also a social creation meaning that society created the different "races". People are grouped together based on their differences, this could be skin colour, hair texture, or facial features.
Whittington-Walsh (2017) describes Herbert Spencer in a lecture. Herbert Spencer explained the Social Evolution theory. He used science to explain the social world. He compared human society to animal species and believed that the world had the potential to socially evolve. He believed the world was a survival of the fittest. Those that could adapt to changes of the world would survive and the ones that couldn't wouldn't survive.
Whittington-Walsh (2017) talked about the Social Darwinism theory, which also believed that societies must adapt to changes in order to survive. Simpler societies need to develop into complex societies and those that did not wouldn't be a society that would be able to sustain itself and ultimately diminish. It made the connection between race and society, a simpler society means a simpler race.
