In World War 1 and World War 2, militaries relied mostly on trench warfare, which was some of the most difficult fighting for foot soldiers. Because of this, countries had to come up with newer, more advanced tactics to get the upper hand on their enemies. These tactics included climbing over the edge, trench raids, artillery barrages, and the blitzkrieg strategy.
Send in the NUKES.
In World War 1 and World War 2, advances in weaponry ultimately proved to be the most deadly. Artillery cannons allowed armies to launch shells over 80 miles away, which was unheard of before the war. Machine guns in the trenches allowed soldiers to shoot 600 rounds per min. Poison gas was very effective, as it could turn the tides in a losing fight and create separation.
In World War 1 and World War 2, the massive distances between the countries meant proper transportation was needed. Fighter planes improved, as their ability to observe enemy troops and make quick bombing runs proved to be effective. British-American made tanks had the power of artillery guns and were able to climb trenches. British naval ships had underwater explosives called depth charges, and were made much faster and stronger, forcing Germany to cut off trade routes.
Nowadays, there is not so many tactics as there are types of war. Nuclear war has gone to an entirely new level, and although Fat Man and Little Boy could destroy cities, bombs now exceed over 3,800 times the power. Electronic war is now widely used by many countries to intercept and focus information into creating new sub-divided tactics. Psychological warfare has also caused a big change, as the opinions of the population shifting and changing greatly support national objectives.
Nowadays, modern day artillery consists mainly of powerful missiles that can cover thousands of miles. Advances on mounted machine guns have allowed them to now fire up to 6000 rounds per min! Chemical warfare has gotten even more effective, but without all of the toxicity. Flash grenades now temporarily blind and stun enemies and Stingers release small pellets meant to incapacitate enemies.
Nowadays, fighter planes are more sleek and much faster, with improved range and firepower like mounted missiles and machine guns. Tanks are now even more monstrous, with bullet-resistant armor, six times the artillery, and the ability to travel approximately 30 miles per hour. Naval ships now are even stronger and faster, with improved cabin space for navy soldiers and crew. Submarines can now contract from these ships and shoot out their own missiles and explosives.
