On Tuesday, October 09, 1781,General George Washington, commanding a force of 17,000 French and Continental troops, begins the siege known as the Battle of Yorktown against British General Lord Charles Cornwallis and a contingent of 9,000 British troops at Yorktown, Virginia, in the most important battle of the Revolutionary war.

The people that were involved were George Washington, Comte de Rochambeau, and Comte de Grasse were for the Colonist and Lord Charles Cornwallis for the British.
The outcome of the battle was that the British surrendered and lost the battle and the war and the Colonist won the battle and war. “On October 19, 1781, the British laid down their arms and surrendered. The British army was decimated and the American Revolutionary war was virtually over.” ( Land of the brave.org).
The way it led to future event it made the colonist were free from the British.
