  • Antigone- Tragic hero?
  • IS ANTIGONE A TRAGIC HERO?
  • Is she powerful / noble? 
  • "Look on me, you lord of Thebes, the last survivor of your royal house." 
  • Did others respect her?
  • "They say of all woman here she leasts deserves the worst of deaths for her most glorious act" 
  • 
  • Did Antigone have a tragic flaw?
  • Yes, she was powerful, as at one point her father and mother/grandmother ruled, making her a princess.  PG 289
  • Did she realize her fate before it happened?
  • 
  • Is she respected? Yes- very much actually. People who had heard about what she had done thought what she did was brave. Pg. 280
  • Did she have a tragic fate?
  • While she has many tragic flaws, the one im talking about is that she didn't care who knew about her being the one to bury her brother. Her flaw is not caring about who knows. Pg. 257.
  • "No, no. Announce the fact- if you don't let everyone know, I'll despise your silence even more." 
  • Yes, she did relieze her fate before she died. While she knew from the start she was going to be killed, she later found out how. Pg. 300
  • "But I go nourishing the vital hope my father will be pleasured to see me come, and you, my mother, will welcome me, as well as you, my own dear brother."
  • Antigone had a really sad fate. She hung herself, in the cave she was locked in with her bed sheets. Her fiance/cousin was the one who found her. Pg. 288
  • "In the furthest corner of the tomb we saw Antigone hanging by the neck, held up by a noose- fine woven linen"
