  •     It was the best of the time, it was the worst of times - This Allusion is from the book "A Tale of Two Cities." It is about an age  of wisdom, the age of foolishness, and the epoch of belief. The passage tells of an age of radical opposites taking place across the English Channel, in France and the United Kingdom respectively. It tells a story of contrasts and comparisons between London and Paris during the French revolution. This is used to show how something can be good and bad at the same time.

  • Joe bought a large pizza and ate the whole thing by himself. It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

  • It was the best of times; it was the worst of times is talking about a situation that is good but is also bad at the same time. In the previous sentence eating the whole pizza was the best of times. They stomach ache and the weight gain was the worst of times.
  • Explanation
  • The Fall in the bible happened when Adam and Eve ate from the fruit tree God told them not to eat from. When they listened to the temptation of the serpent sin covered the Earth and they brought many consequences to themselves and the world.  
  • The teenage boy promised his parents about not going to a big drinking party and got caught the next day. He was punished, doesn't have as many privileges, and lost his parents trust.
  • The Fall represents a situation where one is disobedient towards authority and in result they get big consequences for it.
