Why they hunted seals and whales Whales were used to produce oil. Seals were used to produce fur and skin.
Whale hunting took place at South Islands of NZ. Seal hunting took place at the Southlands and West Coast of NZ.
No more of those sad stuff.

The major types of seals hunted were fur seals, and whales were southern right whales and humpback whales.
Mostly Maori men hunted whales, because they had power.
