  • YOU HAVE 120 DAYS!!
  • As years passed and martin understood the church more he saw that there was a lot of corruption in the Catholic church and saw that the church was selling indulgences. These indulgences apparently bought yourself out of purgatory (between heaven and hell) and made sure you went to heaven. These were all a scam and jsut to make money.
  • In 1517 Martin than went to the church in Wittenburg, Germany and nailed the 95 theses to the church door to express his feelings and his growing concerns for the catholic church.
  • In 1518 the Pope saw these 95 theses and took this as an insult and summoned Martin in Augsburg to defend his opinions on the catholic church. the Pope than said he had 120 days to recant his theses.
  • On April the 17th, 1521, Martin appeared at the diet of worms and Pope Leo excommunicated Martin from the Catholic Church. martin than went into hiding and started his project where he printed his beliefs through a printing press and sent it out to the world. It spread quickly through Europe and the word got out and it was finally known as the Protestant Reformation.
  • The Council of Trent met from 1545 to 1563 to discuss issues in the catholic church and started to focus on the teachings of the new priests and charities. The catholic church founded new Jesuits and brought new life to old church's. this was a radical change in the Catholic church as it changed the way of their teachings.
