Storyboard Text

  • Athena and Poseidon liked a certain city in Greece. They both wanted to be the patron of the beautiful city.
  • Athena and Poseidon
  • I love this city, too!
  • I love this city!
  • Athena came up with the idea of them competing. Whoever gave the city the best gift , would become the city's patron. Poseidon agreed.
  • Then let us compete. Whoever gives the people the best gift, wins the city.
  • Good idea.
  • Poseidon went first. He, the god of the sea, gave the people water. The people ran up to the water and began to drink. Unfortunately, the water was very salty.
  • I give people the gift of water!
  • Yuck! It's salty!
  • Athena went next. From where the water poured out of the mountain, an olive tree grew.
  • My gift to the people is an olive tree!
  • Yay!
  • Athena's gift gave the people food, wood, and oil. Poseidon admitted defeat and Athena won the city!
  • My gift gives oil, food, and wood!
  • Alright, you win the city.
  • Athena named the city Athens.
  • I will call this city Athens!
