  • James Madison was President from 1808 to 1816. He led the U.S during the War of 1812.

  • Britain took U.S sailors and impressed them into the British Navy. This caused many citizens to want to go to war with Britain
  • You're gonna be coming with us and joining our army!
  • During the war, British troops marched into Washington, destroying most of the city and burning the White House down.
  • For 13 hours, British ships bombed Fort McHenry. By the end, the American Flag was still standing. This even inspired the Star-Spangled Banner.
  • Even weeks after the official treaty of the war, the Battle of New Orleans occured. The news of the treaty didn't reach New Orleans until after the battle.
  • After the battle, Andrew Jackson emerged a War Hero. The battle ended with over 100 British injuries and only 71 American injuries.
  • THE END
  • After the treaty, a sense of Nationalism swept over America. The citizens were proud of their country and the economy was booming.
  • After the war, the U.S. stopped trading with Britain. This forced America to improve it's industry within the states.
