Storyboard Text

  • I am extremely unhappy with my husband! Women should have the right to file a divorce!
  • We must establish a theater that would show only plays written by women.
  • People should be given a choice among three potential forms of government: unitary republic, a federalist government, or a constitutional monarchy.
  • Slavery should be abolished in all of France and its colonies!
  • If men had the "Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen," then I must write the "Declaration of the Rights of Womon and the Female Citizen."
  • Olympe de Gouges was a French woman whose singular voice not only argued for equality between the sexes, but against injustice, discrimination, and oppression in all its forms. Though Olympe was not one of the most militant activists, she set the precedent for future generations of feminist writers.
