Storyboard Text

  • You must be careful, those witches might've not told you the full truth. They might've said that to tempt you.
  • Banquo may be right... Where those witches intending those predictions to be evil or good? Oh goodness... I'm so confuddled!
  • Cousin! Words cannot express how grateful I am for your accomplishment. Even my thanks or compensations will not add up to your accomplishment.
  • I owe you that loyalty and service.
  • Oh my, a letter from my husband!
  • (This is an aside.) Macbeth and Banquo discuss about how what Ross and Angus are saying is what the witches prophesied about. Banquo warns Macbeth that what the witches said may not 100% be the truth. But Macbeth is confused because if these prophesies are true, then why is he having thoughts of killing the king?
  • Duncan will be coming tomorrow, my love.
  • When he comes, we must be good a host and hostess so that he may not smell anything fishy.
  • King Duncan sees Macbeth again, at Macbeth's castle called Inverness, and thanks Macbeth for fighting in the battle and winning. He feels like his compensations will not be enough to show his thanks. King Duncan also announces that his son will be the heir to the throne. When Macbeth hears this, he starts to think murderous thoughts; he wants the king dead.
  • "This castle hath a pleasant [location]" (1.6.1). Hello Lady Macbeth! Thank you for allowing me to visit today at such short notice.
  • Your highness, you generosity cannot be equally compensated by us. We can only compensate you with prayers.
  • Lady Macbeth receives a letter from her husband, and in that letter Macbeth tells his wife about how he had an enounter with 3 witches who prophesied about his future. He also tells her about his malicious thoughts, but she thinks that he is too nice and will not follow through with the thought to murder King Duncan. However, she thinks that he does want to be king even if it will require murder.
  • Hello Macbeth! I've been waiting for you!
  • Of course!
  • Hello your highness! I'm very sorry, but could you excuse me and my lady for a moment please?
  • King Duncan will be coming tomorrow and Lady Macbeth wants to act as if they're really glad to see Duncan. She wants to hide the fact that they will be murdering him soon, so she doesn't want to him to feel like something is weird. Macbeth, however, says that they will talk later of the business of murder. Lady Macbeth tells him that "to alter favor ever is to fear" (1.5.84).
  • King Duncan is at Inverness waiting for Macbeth to arrive. As he waits he talks with Lady Macbeth.
  • Macbeth comes home, but he asks for a moment alone with Lady Macbeth because Macbeth no longer wants to proceed with the plan.
