  • SHE CANT SEE ME! SHE CANT HEAR ME!
  • WHAT!
  • Baby Helen comes down with a n acute congestion and gets sick. The doctor says she will live and be fine. While Captain Keller is walking the doctor out Kate notices Helen can neither see nor hear her. They are going crazy trying to get a reaction from her.
  • I want to stay here with Helen, alone.
  • You want to what!
  • Helen grows up some and is now about six years old. She has a doll and tears off buttons from her aunts dress so her doll has eyes. They realizes she wants to see and send message to the Perkins institute. They send a girl to help her named Annie Sullivan. Annie arrives and meets Helen. She drops her suitcase on the porch loudly so Helen would feel the vibrations. Helen carries it upstairs to open it.
  • Let her do it this time.
  • She's testing you
  • Upstairs in Annie's room she gives Helen the key and she opens the case to find a new doll for her and she is happy. Annie also gives her some cake and starts to spell into her hand, C-A-K-E. Nest she spells doll and tries to take the doll away so she will spell it and Helen hits her with it. She locks Annie inside her room and makes off with the key. Captain Keller gets her out of the room with a ladder and says to Kate she is trouble. Annie sees Helen throw they key down a pump, getting rid of it. Annie continues to spell to Helen until one supper she notices Helen has no manners. Helen is fingering everyone plate and eating their food and gets mad when Annie won't let her touch her plate. They get into a physical fight with slapping pinching, throwing food and water at each other and more. After hours in the dining room while everyone else is waiting outside Annie comes out and says that Helen ate off her own plate, ate with a spoon, and folded her napkin.
  • wah, wah. wah, wah.
  • MRS. KELLER!!! MR. KELLER!!!
  • Annie soon afterwards Realizes that Helen hates her. She won't be in the same room as her, let her touch her or anything to do with her. Annie knows that once Helen understands that objects have names that she will learn instead of mimic her. She makes a request to Annie and Captain Keller. She wants to live with Helen alone in the garden house. She wants 2 weeks. She says that she needs control of the food she eats, the clothes she wears and the air she breathes so she will be able to teach her. In the first days Helen won't do anything until she gets jealous of a servant staying with them. Annie is spelling to him not her! After that moment Helen learns multiple words but doesn't know that the words have an object to them.
  • The two weeks with Helen are up and her parents are eager for her back. Annie asks for more time but they say no. Annie's main worry is that Kate and Keller will baby her again. The first dinner Helen is back they say it is a party, a homecoming one. Helen comes up with an idea to test her parents while having her favorite foods. She first repeatedly drops her napkin. Annie puts it back on again and again. Next Helen drops her silverware and starts eating with her fingers.
  • Annie tries to punish and stop her but she only gets a pitcher of water thrown at her, and its a hit. She takes Helen outside to fill the pitcher. Helen is stubborn and tries to get away. While Annie is forcing her to fill the pitcher all of a sudden Helen drops the pitcher. At first Annie is mad but then a miracle happens. With strain Helen, blind, deaf and mute, says "Wah, wah." And then again "Wah, wah." Helen puts her hand under the water and wants the letters. She understands objects have a name! She touches the ground and spells it back, Next pump, step, bell. Annie yells for Kate and Keller and they are overjoyed. Helen realizes they are Mother and Papa. She goes to Annie but instead of Annie, Helen gets Teacher. Kate realizes she will have to share Helen with Annie. Annie says she loves Helen, forever and ever.
