  • The myth of Pyramus and Thisbe, by Maya Atkins
  • I love you Pyramus!
  • Roar
  • I love you Thisbe!
  • Pyramus and Thisbe were forbidden lovers in Babylon. Their families were enemies, so they were told they could not be together.
  • Pyramus is an enemy, you cannot love him.
  • Oh, bet
  • Thisbe is our enemy, you cannot love her.
  • They lived in neighboring houses, separated by a wall. This wall, however, had a crack in it. The two lovers whispered plans to meet together through it.
  • Meet me at Ninus' Tomb
  • Under the mulberry tree
  • Thisbe got to their meeting place early. She spots a lioness with a bloody mouth from a fresh kill and flees, dropping her veil in the process. The lion bloodies her veil.
  • This is so scary! I have to run away!
  • Pyramus comes later. He sees Thisbe's bloody shawl and assumes the worst. He takes his sword and kills himself under the mulberry tree.
  • My Thisbe has been killed! I have no reason to live now
  • Upon Thisbe's return to the mulberry tree, she sees Pyramus dead on the ground. She takes his sword and kills herself. Their blood stains the berries on the mulberry tree are a reminder of their tragic love.
  • Oh my Pyramus, what have you done?
