Written in 1215, the Magna Carta was the first ever turning point for human rights. Among those individual rights came protection from excessive taxes, the ability to buy and own property, and the churches freedom from the Kings governmental inference.
Flashing forward about two hundred years the English Monarch and the rich upper class-men have slowly diminished. England was primarily made up of middle class-men and individual rights have broaden and will soon be echoed in the American Bill of Rights. Ex. Rights to bear arms, freedom of speech, right to a speedy trial, protection from cruel and unusual punishments, jury of equal peers.
English Bill of Rights
Adapted from one of the four government philosophers of Great Britain, John Locke, the American Bill of Rights adopted his philosophy that every man is created equal with certain unalienable rights, and with these rights come life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (property). Basis for this document was indeed the Magna Carta as well as the English Bill of Rights. Indivudual rights are included in google drawing.
