  • The Disputes Over Slavery
  • OH PLEASE MY KIND SIR! PLEASEEEE I BEG YOU!!!
  • I rule that Congress can no longer prohibit slavery!
  • WHAT ARE YOU KIDDING ME !
  • The North and South Disagreements
  • There should be slavery everywhere in the country in every state.
  • No there should not be slavery anywhere in this country. These are people that we are making work for us. That isn't fair.
  • The events that occurred that cause the Civil War was the Compromise of 1850, Election of 1860, Secession, Missouri Compromise and the Dred Scot Case. The people who were at the heart over the disputes involving slavery were Abraham Lincoln, who didn't want slavery to expand. Dred Scott was a slave and sued his owner to be free but didn't win.
  • Nullification and sectionalism/ Georgia Secesion
  • Huh. Interesting.
  • We don't need your approval. We have to secede. We need our slaves!
  • The Supreme court prohibited Congress to interdict slavery which intensified the problems between the north and south. This was attacking the legitimacy of the Republican party and made brewing feuds escalate. Both side often had disputes over whether if new states should be slave or non slave states. This contributed to the Civil War between the Union(north) and the confederacy(south).
  • Compromises
  • The North was anti-slavery and believed that slavery shouldn’t be allowed to spread. Also they thought John Brown was a hero. On the other hand, the south presumed that slavery should be expanded all throughout every state, and in their mind most southerners thought slavery was right. Additionally, they thought john brown was a terrorist.
  • Secesion
  • The nullification crisis took place due to states rights not being fair. The south was tired of not being able to rule themselves and so, they, the south, decided to take action. South Carolina secede from the U.S and and sectionalism was fired up even more between the north and south. Many Georgians didn’t want to secede from the rest of states. The General Assembly voted 208 to 89 in favor of seceding from the Union. Making Georgia part of the Confederate States of America.
  • No we cannot secede. I don't approve of it.
  • Two of the main Compromises to try to help restrict tension was the Missouri Compromise and the Compromise of 1850. Since Georgia was under the 36 30 parallel, it is considered a slave state. In the Compromise of 1850, if any slave from Georgia escapes their master and moves to the North, they will be sent back to Georgia if he/she doesn't have an ID. This was called the Fugitive Slave Act.
  • The event that caused the Southern states to secede was the Election of 1860. Abraham Lincoln won the election and he was a Republican meaning he didn't want slavery to expand. The Southern states are pro-slavery and they didn't like him. They wanted to secede.
  • Hemp! Since he doesn't approve of slavery we are going to secede.
