Time to give out graded homework from last week.
Hey Steve. You had a few minor errors in your calculations. Next time you do your HW, I suggest you write down every step of your calculations. I am certain that you will have fewer errors once you do that.
Other than that, you seem to have put lots of effort in this assignment! Keep up the good work.
Praise boosts student's confidence and motivation. It is especially helpful when students are struggling. Praise changes their beliefs about themselves and the way they see obstacles in a way that increases their tolerance for challenges. However, it's important not to praise things over which students have no control, such as intelligence.
The Importance of Praise and Positive Recognition
Timely - Timely Feedback is important so that students have " opportunities to use it while the attempt and effects are still fresh in their minds" (Wiggins 2012). Goal-oriented - In schools, students learn with goals. In order to keep students on the right track toward a particular goal, giving goal-related feedback is important. Otherwise, students may get stranded before reaching a goal. Actionable - Feedback needs to be specific and helpful. If a student doesn't know what change to make or doesn't grasp the point of the feedback, it is ineffective. On-going - Feedback should be given constantly so that student needs are supported at all times in a learning progress.
