  • I'm from the north and the tariff would be good for American merchants.
  • Well, I'm from the south I don't want to pay for your improvement if it does not help me.
  • The Announcement of the Tariff
  • BOO!!!!!!!!
  • The tariff is officially put in order
  • YAY!!!
  • The Era of Good Feelings is OVER
  • We don't have to pay the tariff that we don't benefit from !
  • Go John Calhoun, tell the government that we don't deserve to be treated like this.
  • The north wanted the tariff to help the many manufactures sell at a lower cost because the European prices were less expensive then Americas. The south did not want a tariff because they had less European manufacturers.
  • Lower Tariff
  • We trusted you and hoped that you would help us but now we are turning our backs on you.
  • I'm sorry sir but I can't give you a free pass for the tariff because then the tariff would be way to high for the Norths liking.

  • Nullification Act
  • We put the Nullification act because we don't want to pay the tariff even if they lower it.
  • But, the nation needs help and we need to work together.
  • The south were not happy with this decision so they decided to oppose the tariff with the help of Vice President John Calhoun. The significance of this was that John Calhoun was stating that a group of states could nullify and federal law which put Andrew Jackson in a bad position.
  • The Force Bill
  • We can make you follow the tariff
  • Fine then I guess I will give up and pay even though I don't agree.
  • In 1832 Congress tried to help the south and put a lower tariff on them but they still refused and now many southerners are turning their backs on Andrew Jackson because he is not helping them. Some of the south wants to form another country but that is not allowed.
  • The nullification act was one where the south would not pay the tariff because they though it was illegal. The significance of this was that they were making there own acts and were not trying to help the nation.
  • The Force Bill was a bill that let the military to invoice the tariff and make the south scared so that they would stop with all the nullification business. The significant of this would be that Andrew Jackson had that power already but he wanted to make it clear. In summery the south did not want the tariff and Andrew Jackson had to do what was best for the nation.
