  • Within Chang'an, rulers had all of the power and merchants were of the lowest class. They were deemed as "dangerous" so they were often treated unjustly.
  • In Athens, women had little to no rights, especially in political matters. Men decided what they'd do, eat, even what jobs to do and who to marry.
  • In Rome, those in the higher social classes often had to show it with clothing or flaunting their wealth/power. This often indebted someone of a lower stature into their servitude.
