  • Near Cape St. Elias, 1741
  • Bering anchored off an island where Georg Steller spent a day writing down all the plants and shells he could find. Remnants of native hunting was all over the island.
  • Look at all these plants and stuff!
  • Near Cape St. Elias, 1741
  • Since they were low on supplies and most of the men had fallen scurvy Bering had to start his way back to Kamchatka a day after arriving to the island.
  • Prepare to set sail!
  • Shumagins, 1741
  • Bering anchored, and two kayaks approached the ship and traded. The Natives then invited the Russian's to come to shore.
  • Shumagins, 1741
  • After 10 Men went to shore the Natives held some men back. The Russians shot into the air while their men came back to the ship.
  • 1741
  • After trading once more. The men set sail for Kamchatka a day later.
  • Let's get home men!
  • 115 miles off the coast of Kamchatka, 1741
  • Too many men had fallen scurvy to man sails, so they decided to anchor at an island they thought to be close to Kamchatka. A storm came in and destroyed their shit stranding them.
