I was born in a small town in Holidays-burg PA in January the 18th 1856. I grew up with many brothers and sisters but one of the things I remember is that I worked at a barber shop and was a shoe shiner.
After I went to Baltimore for shoe making and shoe shining I left to go back home and took up barbering. After that job I had enough so I decided to peruse education. I went to Chicago for school to learn about medicine. In 1883 I graduated from medical school.
In 1893 I opened my first practice. It was an interracial practice that allowed both white and black interns and patience. I was so recognized for many things I did with my medical degree. Also I allowed women to learn medicine. Also I did this during the civil rights movement.
I died on August 4th, 1931. After being awarded many awards for my stellar abilities. The reason people know me is because people like the thought of people doing something not for them but for something bigger.
