My families dog named Bella that we had owned for 13 years finally passed away and my whole family was very depressed.
We knew that it was time to move on from Bella and we knew she had a good life.
A few months later my family was all sitting around the dinner table when my sister showed us a picture of this puppy. She asked my dad if we could apply to get it and he said sure not thinking much of it.
Days went on and we heard nothing from the owner. Then one day we got a call from Mississippi where the owner lived. She said the dog was being sent to an animal shelter in Massachusetts. The next day we went to get our new dog.
When we got the dog my dad told me that I was responsible for taking care of the dog most of the time as my sister was getting ready to go to college.
I've been taking care of Eli for 3 years now and I feel like this experience has changed me as a human being making me more responsible and caring.
