Okonkwo's gun malfunctions during Ezeudu's Funeral and in result he accidentally kills a young boy. punishment will be served.
"All was silent. In the center of the crowd a boy lay in a pool of blood....Okonkwo's gun had exploded and a piece of iron had pierced the boy's heart"(Achebe,124).
Okonkwo is put into exile for killing the young boy, and is sent to Mbanta were he needs to restart a new agricultural life.
"Okonkwo was given a plot of ground on which to build his compound, and two or three pieces of land on which to farm during the coming planting season"(Achebe, 129-130).
Okonkwo and Obierika go on to tell stories of villages and the helping of Oberika to Okonkwo's agricultural success
"It was in the second year of Okonkwo's exile that his friend, Obierika, came to visit him... Okonkwo was very happy to receive his friend"(Achebe, 136).
