  • This is Virginia and Virginia is where slavery started in the U.S in 1619. All three of these United states, Africa and Europe were all apart of the Triangular trade
  • Why did the united states participate and why how did they think they could benefit off of slaves
  • At the bottom middle of the picture is Africa. During the slave trade this was a key spot for slaves to be bought from. West Africa was the main spot such as Senegal
  • Why did Africa sell slaves
  • From Africa, Portugal was the first European country to trade slaves. From Portugal it went on to be France and Britain being the 2 other big slave trading countries in Europe.
  • Europe and why they bought slaves and what they thought they would profit off of
  • Slaves were brought to colonies to aid in the production of such lucrative crops as tobacco and cotton. They also worked in harsh condition which they were forced to work in all types of weather doing working and doing outdoor chores, like farming and blacksmithing
  • Africans reportedly sold over 12.5 Million slaves but only 10.7 Million slaves survived the dreaded journey of the middle passage to the United States
  • Like america Europeans colonies bought slaves for the hard labor that they didnt want to do. Used them for things like working in factories working crops and blacksmithing. Working 10 hour days everyday without a break
