Jonathan, Willa's new stepfather, got her a new backpack to replace her old one that belonged to her Dad. Jonathan and Willa's mom made efforts in the new home. Everyone hears of the recent murders.
Willa goes for a swim, but an invisible force pulls her under. She almost drowns, and sees a dead body floating next to her. When she gets out of the pool, she gets lectured by her parents. She keeps hearing and seeing things in the house; it's haunted.
Willa goes to her new school and meets Marnie. They become friends, and Willa meets Wyatt, who is obsessed with the Hollywood Serial Killer.
Willa and Wyatt become close friends, and are trying to find out who the Hollywood Serial Killer is. Willa has multiple visions of the victims and their deaths while discovering clues.
Willa goes to see a psychic and is told to bury her ring and book. The psychic also tells her about a rose necklace, and Willa's father says hello.
