Adanna Akabike Period 2 Andrew Jackson deserves to be on the $20 bill.
Hello, I'm Andrew Jackson and I deserve to be on the $20 bill.
In the 1830's, there was the idea of spreading the power of politics. Andrew Jackson had this idea because he lost the 1824 election. Jackson gave voting rights to the lower-class people. The regular people were satisfied with their voting rights given to them. They would later on vote for Andrew Jackson. The spread of voting rights caused Jackson to win the 1828 election. Jackson used the Jacksonian Democracy which makes him a good president. I thought it was good because he gave voting rights to lower-class people, which they should've been given earlier.
I hereby give the voting rights to ye people.
A new era of politics in Jackson's inauguration. Before he was elected, Jackson promised to restore the government. He immediately started by replacing many government officials with Jackson supporters. The name, "spoils system" comes from a saying. The Spoils System is the method of giving jobs of government jobs to his supporters. Jackson used the Spoils System which I think also makes him a good president. I think it makes him a good president because giving jobs to his political supporters makes his supporters think more of him than did before.
I, Andrew Jackson, give my supporters jobs of the government.
In 1830, Congress passed the "Indian Removal Act", after dispute. This act stated for the government to arrange an agreement that would require Native Americans to move west. Jackson immediately set out to establish the law. He thought it would allow Native Americans to their culture and way of living. I think Andrew Jackson using the Indian Removal Policy makes him a good president. I think this because he and Congress are making the Native Americans move west and it allows them to live their way of living and culture.
Tariffs raised by Congress as they pass bill, forcing Southern to pay excluding Northern states.
In 1828, Congress passed a bill that raised tariffs. Southern states become angry.; North did not have to pay. They called it the "Tariff of Abominations". Some of the Southern leaders leaders even said they were leaving because of tariffs. Jackson's vice-president, John C. Calhoun, understood the problem because he was also Southern. He wrote the doctrine of nullification, saying a state had the right to accept or reject a federal law. This was the major problem which would be settled 30 years later. Jackson used State's Rights, which I think makes him a good president. I think this because he is against his VP's idea when they threatened to leave.
I hereby refuse Congress's vote to renew the bank.
Andrew Jackson opposed the renewal, when Congress voted to renew the bank. Jackson sent a high-language message to Congress saying the it was unconstitutional. I think Jackson using the War on National Bank/Economic Decisions makes him a bad president. I think this makes him a bad president because he opposed when Congress wanted to renew the bank. Although, renewing the bank is unconstitutional.
