Storyboard Text

  • Election of 1828
  • I won this time EASILY
  • Spoils System
  • We are friends so you are hired
  • Worcester Vs. Georgia
  • You were on Indian property
  • Thanks for abducting me for no reason
  • Andrew Jackson and John Quincy Adams were involved in this election. Jackson was a Democratic and Adams a Republican, Jackson easily won against Adams. Jackson was against the Tariff of 1828, so the Southern states voted for him.
  • Indian Removal Act
  • I know your not chiefs, but can you sign this treaty? I need you to relocate a to better environment for you.
  • Andrew Jackson got rid of most of his perfectly good federal workers and replaced them with people who had similar political views to his or he knew. This was called the spoils system. I do not agree with this because he is firing innocent workers just because they believe differently than him.
  • Trail of Tears
  • Samuel Worcester was residing in Indian land and the state of Georgia arrested him for residing on Indian property. The ruling was that Georgia had no right to seize and abduct him considering he had permission. I do agree, Cherokee Nation is its own nation, therefore, Georgia has no say so over them.
  • Interesting Fact
  • The Indian removal act was supposed to move the Cherokee nation West of the Mississippi River. They needed to move to avoid conflicts with white Americans and to be able to live their lives through their rules and laws instead of being stuck in a civilized community. The Treaty of New Echota said that they give all their land east of the Mississippi River to us.
  • The trail of tears was the Indian's migration to present day Oklahoma, part of the Indian removal act. The journey was harsh. Many Indians faced hunger, illness, and exhaustion. Many Indians died along the way.
  • I'm hungry
  • Jackson adopted two Native American boys. I find this interesting because he led campaigns against them and wanted them to move West.
