Storyboard Text

  • Departing from Ithaca
  • Off to Troy we go!!
  • Island of Troy
  • Island of the Cyclops
  • My name is Nobody!
  • This scene marks the departure of Odysseus and his crew from his home, Ithaca. They are going on this journey because they need to go to Troy to fight the Trojans in the Trojan War. Athena is seen as the woman in back as she becomes some sort of guide to Odysseus, he is the only one that can see her.
  • Island of the Sirens
  • Keep Rowing! I want to hear them!
  • This slide shows Odysseus and his crew fighting the Trojans in the Trojan War. The horse in the back symbolizes the fake horse (which contained Greek Soldiers)  that they used as a peace offering to get into the gates of the kingdom.
  • The Bow Challenge
  • This slide shows the scene where Odysseus and his crew goes to the Island of the Cyclops. Odysseus and his crew enter a cave filled with food and a burning fire, they immediately take advantage of it and eat it all. The Cyclops comes back into his cave and is furious when he finds Odysseus and his crew stealing his food. Odysseus tells the Cyclops that his name is Nobody, in order to help his future plan. Eventually, Odysseus and his crew stab the Cyclops in the eye and escape his wrath through the sheep.
  • The Slaughter of the Suitors
  • Circe warned Odysseus about the Sirens on his travels. Sirens are mermaid-like creatures who use their voices to put the men in a trance to make them crash into the rocks. Odysseus uses beeswax to fill his crewmates ears, to prevent them from hearing the sirens voice. Odysseus tells his crew to tie him to the mast because he wants to hear what they sound like.
  • When Odysseus returns to his home, he finds it to be filled with suitors that are trying to take his place as king and his wife Penelope. He reunites with his son Telemachus and comes up with a plan to get rid of the suitors. Athena visits Odysseus and turns him into a old man so he doesn't immediately get attacked by the suitors. Penelope was having a contest to see who could use Odysseus's bow and shoot an arrow through the rings. Therefore, Odysseus took advantage of the challenge and shoot the arrow straight through before turning back into his real self.
  • he won't be able to do that, he's too old!
  • Odysseus and Telemachus kill the suitors so they no longer have to deal with them trying to take over.
