King Henry Getting his crown on the 21st of April 1509
Church Of England
Henry was the second Tudor monarch, succeeding his father, Henry VII. Henry is best known for his six marriages and, in particular, his efforts to have his first marriage, to Catherine of Aragon, annulled.
Within a few weeks of becoming king, Henry married his brother’s widow, Katharine of Aragon. The match had been planned since not long after Arthur’s death, but not completed, partly because of Henry’s youth, and partly because Henry VII and Katharine’s father could not agree over the financial settlements.
King henry was excommunicated by the Pope. The english reformation has started. Henrys chief minister helped him to break with rome and established Henry VIII as the head of the church of England.
Christianity in England, from Anglican perspective, came under the authority of the Pope. However, in 1534 King Henry VIII declared himself to be supreme head of the Church of England.
The Anglican Church originated when King Henry VIII split from the Roman Catholic Church in 1534, when the pope refused to grant the king an annulment.
