  • This climate usually located about 20 to 35 degrees around the equator. Some of the continents it can be found on is Africa, Australia, Mexico, Utah, and Nevada.
  • There are a very little amount of plants that can grow here. The most common are cacti and small shrubs.
  • There are many animals that can survive in this harsh environment such as reptiles like lizards, toads, and tortoises. Mammals like jack rabbits, foxes, coyotes. Birds like roadrunners, quail, and hawks
  • During the day temperatures average at about 100 degrees Fahrenheit and at night they average at about 25 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • It is very dry here. It rains about 250mm or 9 inches per year.
  • The desert biome is an ecosystem that forms due to the low level of rainfall it receives each year. Deserts cover about 20% of the Earth.
