  • The theme of The Lottery  acts if violence, hatred, murder are not acceptable just because many people participate. Traditions and traditional should be questioned; group mentality can be harmful. People are not all good or all evil but a mixture of both. 
  • 
  • Tessie had just drew the card with the black dot, meaning the whole town must stone her to death. They ahd picked up there rocks and threw them at her. A rock had hit her in the head. She Shouts , "it isn't fair, it isn't right (Jackson, pg 7)."
  • The setting of the story is a beautiful sunny day, just after the children had gotten out of school. Summer had started, the grass is green and the flowers are everywhere. It could not be a better day to perform there lively tradition. Who passes up a day like this to do that. "The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full-summer day; the flowers were blossoming profusely and the grass was richly green (Jackson, pg 1)."
