The Boer War began in 1899 when the British failed at starting a rebellion against the Boers because the Boers didn't want them to have rights to their diamonds and gold.
The Boers launched commando raids and used geurrilla tactics against the British.
You can't have our rights!!!
The British countered by burning Boer farms and imprisoning women and children in concentration camps.
Many black South Africans were captured by the British and placed in concentration camps, where over 14,000 people died
We finally won!!
Britain won the war in 1910 and the Boer Republics were joined into a self-governing Union of South Africa which was controlled by the British.
The Europeans established colonies and signaled a change in the way of life of the Africans.
